Mount Rainier Drive or Hike to See was written with the purpose of helping folks do and see a variety of things all in a day visit to Mt. Rainier National Park. However, it was also written to show people that a single day visit doesn’t do justice to this relatively undiscovered National Park.
This is not a book for the avid backpacking hiker. It is not a book for the many mountain climbers that frequent the park.
Instead, it is a book for people who want to see the ever changing gorgeous mountain views, hike on the side of the mountain, view waterfalls crashing downward, look into the clear reflective mountain lakes, listen to the rivers make their music, walk amongst meadows of flowers, stand beside old growth trees over a thousand years old, watch the mountain goats run around on high rocky cliffs without ever a misstep, talk to the local marmots as they sun themselves on rocks beside many of the trails or catch a glimpse of the elusive black bears, see the silver fox at Paradise, eat the wild Huckleberries, admire the lush green forest foliage, take a historical self guided hike at Longmire and want all of this information organized for them with maps and colored photos so they can concentrate on enjoying all of it.
